Answers to the questions we hear most often from injury victims in Glendale and Los Angeles.

How long do I have to file a personal injury claim in California?

In most cases, two years from the date of the injury. Claims against a government entity must be filed within six months, and some situations may have unique deadlines. Contact us as soon as possible to protect your rights.

What is my personal injury case worth?

It depends on the severity of your injuries, your medical bills, your lost income, and the degree of the other party’s fault. Case results may range from a few thousand dollars to millions. We evaluate every case individually at no charge.

Do I have to go to court?

Most personal injury cases settle before trial. We negotiate aggressively to get you a fair settlement, but if the insurer refuses to pay what your case is worth, we are fully prepared to litigate.

How does the contingency fee work?

Nothing upfront. We work on a contingency fee basis: you pay nothing unless we win your case, and our fee is a percentage of your recovery. The exact percentage is explained during your free consultation.

What if I was partially at fault for the accident?

California follows a pure comparative negligence rule, so you can recover even if you were partially at fault. Your compensation is reduced by your percentage of fault, but it is not eliminated.

Should I talk to the other driver’s insurance company?

Not without speaking to us first. Insurance adjusters are trained to minimize payouts. Anything you say can be used to reduce or deny your claim. Call us before you give any recorded statement.

How long will my case take?

Simple cases with clear liability can settle in a few months. Complex cases involving serious injuries or disputed liability can take one to three years. We push for the fastest fair resolution possible.

What should I do immediately after an accident?

Call 911, seek medical attention even if you feel fine, photograph the scene and vehicles, get the other driver’s information and any witness contacts, and call AM Legal before speaking to any insurance company.

Can I still recover compensation if the other driver had no insurance?

Yes. We pursue your own uninsured motorist (UM) coverage and investigate whether any other parties share liability, including the vehicle owner, employer, or a third party. Lack of insurance does not eliminate your recovery options.

Does AM Legal handle cases outside of Glendale?

Yes. While we are based in Glendale, we represent injury victims throughout Los Angeles County and the surrounding areas, including Alhambra, Burbank, Pasadena, and all of Los Angeles.
